What is El Gordo?

El Gordo de Navidad is a raffle draw takes place once a year in Madrid on the 22nd of December. The enormous amount of cash prizes up for grabs makes it Spain's most popular lottery game.

How can I win playing El Gordo?

The biggest El Gordo prizes are awarded for matching the entire winning code drawn for each prize tier. For example, if the code 12345 was drawn for the Second Prize (Segundo Premio) and you had a décimo with that same code, you would win €125,000!

Smaller El Gordo prizes are handed out for matching part of the winning codes, with players who match the last number of the code receiving a prize equal to the money spent on the ticket.

Can I play the El Gordo from outside Spain?

Anyone can play El Gordo from outside Spain simply by using the online ticket concierge service. This service allows you to purchase El Gordo tickets regardless of your location.

Is there a minimum age limit for El Gordo players?

All El Gordo players must be at least 18 years old.

You have up to three months after the date of the draw to claim your prize. Winnings up to €2,500 can be collected from authorised ticket offices, and prizes over €2,500 can be claimed from certain Spanish banks. You can also contact Loterias y Apuestas del Estado – the official Spanish lottery organisation – online or via phone.

What is the cost of a decimo and billete for the El Gordo draw?

Billetes are a full ticket, costing €200. Decimos, which are a tenth of a billete, can be bought for €20.
